If the tech told you to call on Tuesday, why didn't you just call on Tuesday? Why would you wait until Thursday?

Walgreens in Dallas, Texas - Pharmacist ignorant to medical condition and side effects

I have several very important issues arise regarding my husbands prescriptions at a local Walgreens pharmacy. We had a prescription transferred to this pharmacy from another out of town pharmacy on 4/27/10. The staff stated they did not have the medication in stock but it would be ordered and delivered by the next day 4/28/10. I explained that my husband needed the med ASAP due to his medical condition(pulmonary embolisms). When we went by the pharmacy to pick it up on 4/28/10 the pharmacist stated that the med was "on hold" & couldn't be released she stated they "need to make sure the insurance is going to pay". She did not mention they had NOT ordered it. I made several calls to the insurance to help it go through faster. The insurance mentioned they had not heard from anyone at Walgreens in regards to trying to get the prescription approved. After several calls to and from the insurance company throughout the day, the medication was approved. When I called the pharmacy to make sure the prescription would be ready for pick up, the pharmacist stated it would not be ready till the following day 4/29/10 due to it barely being ordered. I asked her if she understood/remembered that the medication was to TREAT the blood clots my husband had and that he had not been on his medication since Sunday and it was now Wednesday, all she said was "I am the pharmacist." When I tried to explain the severity of my husband's situation to the pharmacist at that store, yet once again, she did not seem at all concerned about the issue or what could happen to my husband without his medication. She stated she would "try" and call other stores to locate it, but was sure none would have it in. I was literally in tears by this point. When I advised her that I would be submitting a complaint all she told me was that the manager's name was Larry and he would be in Thursday. This is not the first time we have problems with Walgreens Pharmacys in our area. Examples: filling prescriptions to the wrong child, stating they have called insurance co when they have not even tried contacting them, stating they have tried to locate a medication to get filled faster at another Walgreens but do not even try to call....and the list goes on. I am working to try and transfer all my families medication history to another pharmacy. I will NEVER go back to a Walgreens again.

pharmacy filled wrong script, and told me "it is not my job to sit here and figure out what everybody needs. You left the store with out asking the right questions" Go to CVS.Walgreens fills your Rx's on hnd whether you need them or not. Elderly people are told the price aand they pay it. They aren't thinking they have to ask questions, they look at a pharmacist like a Dr. What has happened to how we do business in this country, money money money.Look out for your elderly family members when filling an Rx for them

Walgreens does not fully screen for interactive drugs

I made sure that I ordered all of my late husband's cancer drugs through the same Walgreen's Pharmacy because they purported to be screening all the drugs THEY filled for drug interactions. At some points my husband would have up to seven (7) new drugs prescribed in one day, so I was depending upon this service to double-check any adverse responses for us. This one time when he was just out of ICCU he had 7 new drugs to take. I took all seven to Walgreens. Just out of curiousity, and being a good advocate for my husband's healthcare concerns, I took out all of the "Warning" Sheets from all the drugs and read them over, with a hi-liter to note any adverse reactions I should be looking for. THREE of the SEVEN drugs were not supposed to be used together for fear of a toxic reaction or invalidation of the other drug. When I called Walgreens to tell the Pharmacist that I would have expected HIM to tell me of these negative warnings do you know what he told me????? "Walgreens only screens the top 10% of the drugs on the market." SO, if you are REALLY sick, and you are being prescribed 90% of the "other" drugs out there please let it be known that Walgreens is not doing what they advertise and what you may be depending on to give yourself a sense of comfort in using them. I still buy their personal care products but I no longer use their Pharmacy. Sincerely, Ali
