Walgreens in Georgetown, Texas - Tried to overcharge for my RX.

In December, the Walgreen's on Williams Drive in Georgetown, Texas quoted me $2,700 for my cancer drug Xeloda. The next day someone else in the pharmacy quoted the cost as $396. In January, I tried to refill the Xeloda on Wednesday. They needed to get some from another Walgreens. On Friday, the RX wasn't ready. The clerk said I would have to drive to Round Rock Texas for the pills. Finally the pharmacy manager called an employee who lived in Round Rock and she picked the RX up the next day. This is the most mismanaged pharmacy in the US.

Hope the cancer has cleared up. Here is what may have happened... Xeloda has varying costs depending on the specific NDC-11 (packaging / quantity / etc). You may have gotten two different costs based on two different NDC's.

Another possibility is that your insurance plan coverage changed, or you met a previously unmet deductible limitation. Due to plan changes / deductible limits, it is not uncommon to see a patient's costs for a recurring medication shift throughout the year.

You should be able to see the specifics on the Explanation of Benefits you receive.

Hope this helps,

Your comment is so misleading. "This is the most mismanaged pharmacy in the US." have you been to all the pharmacies in the U.S.? shut your mouth

Two problems with Walgreens, which have been passed along as of August 25, 2008 to Greg Abbot, Texas Attorney General, of which I've been assured an investigation will take place due to, in the AG staffer's words, "an alarming increase in similar...

1. Here's a good reason why a PBM (which is not an insurance company) would deny a prior authorization for a medication given for an off-label use: since the FDA hasn't approved it for that use yet, there is little to no data on its safety when used in that manner. You want it? You pay for it.

2. Not only do most pharmacies fill generically, but they're given the right to do so by state law (in all 50 states). Unless your doctor specifies brand name medically necessary (in his or her own handwriting), you'll more than likely be receiving a generic substitute which has been approved by the FDA as pharmacologically identical to the brand name medication.

3. Your numbers for the mark-ups on prescription drugs seem a bit off. Even so, I doubt you complain about the mark-up of fountain drinks.

Several mistakes at local Walgreens lately. Wrong Rx, calling Doctor to change Rx to what THEY thought it should be, missed pre-fill dates, snotty pharmacists who don't like to be told they've made a mistake, out of stock drugs requiring driving all over town...

This sounds all too familiar to me.

They do LOVE to call your doctor and interfere. They interfered with my insulin because they thought they were smarter than the Doctor and had to visit the ER because of their interference.

I totally agree with You. We are States away but this just seems to be a major problem regardless of Store location.

Yes, they do make a lot of mistakes and will not take responsibility for them. They blame the Customers and I have heard and witnessed rude comments behind the counter regarding customers.

RUN Away from Walgreens.

Walgreens HR folks are racists

Walgreens has an international pharmacist/pharmacy intern division. These guys have their IQ at the lowest and wonder if they know what they are doing. Throughout the world Pharmacy program offered in different formats and the job application is designed towards Pharmacy schools in US. They don't have a place to say what is FPGEE score, have u passed FPGEE, they don't provide a telephone number where they can be called if we have questions and handles everything behind e-mails. Some HR guy have to wake up and investigate how their staff are treating foreign pharmacy graduates.

Consumer complaint to Walgreens falls on deaf ears and blind eyes!

October 16, 2008 Good Afternoon: To be honest with you, a telephone call just isn't satisfactory to me. I am aghast that it has taken this long for someone to actually take the time to respond... My initial consumer complaint was sent to your corporation back on September the 12th, it now is October 16th. I had to take the time to even resend the hard copy complaint, and yes, again at my expense. And to date, electronically, there have been 24 writings. This is inexcusable, and from such a widely known corporation such as yourself. As written you have my address ~ I certainly would expect some sort of written apology and even perhaps compensation to show indeed I am valued and you would like to retain my business. The only thing left that I have to say is: Shame on you, Walgreens. What is the purpose of having a site where complaints appear to be welcomed only to fall on deaf (ears) and blind eyes!

If you are so poor that you beg for compensation like a dog than why did you resend the complaint at your expense?

I bought 3 items at Walgreens; all had $20 rebates for a total of $60. My scanner was broken at the time so I sent in the forms without making copies. I have sent in hundreds of rebates, without a single one being lost. Wouldn't you know it--Walgreens said they...

The kids have stolen about $2,000 worth of stuff so far; as well as flattening dozens of tires. Guess it was worth ripping off my $60.

Walgreens in Camden, New Jersey - Misrepresented offer for $25 Gift Offer at Grand Opening

Coupon for $25 Gift card states purschase new prescription OR a prescription transferred from another pharmacy other than Walgreens. Manager states he ONLY honors prescription from OTHER pharmacies and does NOT honor a NEW prescription. Please set either me or him straight as to what intent of Coupon is for Grand Opening. THANK YOU for your consideration. Manager was VERY CONGENIAL and was NOT in any way Discourteous to me. I would really like to have this explained as I would interpret this as FALSE ADVERTISING unless you can tell me differently. Thanks again as I am looking forward to your response.

You're obviously one of those nightmare customers that no one can deal with. Publix doesn't treat anyone that way unless they are completely unreasonable or insane. I think you're probably a little of both.

Is it possible that your prescription vial reads 20/180 and also that the outer paper on the bag reads Partial? If so, there weren't enough capsules available in the pharmacy to fulfill the entire quantity, but your pharmacist recognized that you need this medication and provided you some. Considering the fact that you paid your full $40 copay for those 20 capsules indicates that the medication is rather expensive as well, and you'll probably be very relieved to find out that you don't have a remaining copay when you pick up the remainder of your medication.

I can't even get the pharmacist at the Walgreens at 66762 to ever acknowledge me. They have always some dumb 20 year old college student working that has NO idea what he/she is doing.

The pharmacist hides out back in the shelves. I've never seen him/her.
