Walgreens - Pharmacist Review from Phoenix, Arizona

Details
I had a pain prescription that needed to be filled. It was approved by my doctor and my insurance company. The pharmacist, in all her wisdom, decided that the time between the original fill and the refill of the Rx was to close, so she refused to fill the meds for an additional 2 weeks (I'm still waiting as this is a current issue). Instead of contacting me or the prescribing doc, she decided to do nothing. She had all week to call my doctor (or me), but since she was to lazy and inept at my job, she did nothing. Since my doctor's office is closed on the weekend, I now have to wait until Monday to resolve this issue. This Walgreens is located on 51st Ave & Bell Rd in Glendale AZ

Yeah I know this Amelie lewis Has little regard for the feelings of others and manipulate others in order to get what they desire. The term “sociopath” is no longer used in psychology and psychiatry, and the disorder is now called “antisocial personality disorder.” People who have this disorder often have no sense of right or wrong and many only receive treatment when forced to by the judicial system, an employer or family member. The disorder is relatively rare, with approximately 0.6 percent of Americans affected, according to the National Institute of Mental Health.

My entire family used the Walgreens pharmacy at ValVista & Guadalupe for years when Kathy was the pharmacy manager. She knew everyone by name, and was very friendly and kind. My insurance changed a couple of years ago, so I had to go to CVS, and I was very pleased...

Walgreens does not fully screen for interactive drugs

I made sure that I ordered all of my late husband's cancer drugs through the same Walgreen's Pharmacy because they purported to be screening all the drugs THEY filled for drug interactions. At some points my husband would have up to seven (7) new drugs prescribed in one day, so I was depending upon this service to double-check any adverse responses for us. This one time when he was just out of ICCU he had 7 new drugs to take. I took all seven to Walgreens. Just out of curiousity, and being a good advocate for my husband's healthcare concerns, I took out all of the "Warning" Sheets from all the drugs and read them over, with a hi-liter to note any adverse reactions I should be looking for. THREE of the SEVEN drugs were not supposed to be used together for fear of a toxic reaction or invalidation of the other drug. When I called Walgreens to tell the Pharmacist that I would have expected HIM to tell me of these negative warnings do you know what he told me????? "Walgreens only screens the top 10% of the drugs on the market." SO, if you are REALLY sick, and you are being prescribed 90% of the "other" drugs out there please let it be known that Walgreens is not doing what they advertise and what you may be depending on to give yourself a sense of comfort in using them. I still buy their personal care products but I no longer use their Pharmacy. Sincerely, Ali

Almost ALL drugs are screened for interactions. It is almost impossible to take multiple drugs and not have interactions.

Your Dr knows that allready and will generally adjust the doseing on the drugs to take these interactions into account. Sometimes the Dr actually WANTS the interaction so don't actomatically assume that drugs CAN'T be given together just because they interact.

It's nice if Walgreen provides that service but your dosctor is the one who should be telling you what to take and what not to take. If you have several doctors, make sure they all know what you are taking.

Unfortunately there are many meds that are used together that have potential interactions. You have to weigh the benefit vs.

risk and in a case like yours, there is much risk.

I have no idea where the 10% info came from, that is B.S. I have full faith in the Walgreen DUR application.
