I am filing a complaint against an employee, Julie Ragan, who stated she is the 'Pharmacy Manager' at Walgreen's Pharmacy, located at 735 Cabarrus Ave W, Concord, NC 28027. I placed a refill request for seven prescriptions that I take daily on 2/07/2025 around 8 am using the Walgreen's Pharmacy App. I refill all seven of these at one time and place the order each month at the same time. I have been refilling these medications for several years now using this same app. I placed the order on the 2/07/2025 (prior to running out), knowing I would have enough to get me through the weekend, and planned on picking them up after work on 02/10/2025. I received a notification on 2/10/2025 at 3:45 pm that only three were ready for pickup.
I received a notification on 2/10/2025 at 3 pm via the app stating there was a 'refill exception' for four of the medications and I needed to contact the store. No more information was provided on the app. I called the pharmacy as instructed. After waiting around 20 minutes, Julie Ragan answered the phone. I was explaining to her that I put the refill request in Friday morning while I still had enough to get me through the weekend but I am now completely out of one medication and will need it for this evening (02/10/2025). I explained that's why I submitted the refill Friday knowing that would leave the rest of the weekend and most of Monday, if necessary, to get all seven refilled.
I don't know what the refill request exception was (and still don't) as there were refills left on all medications. I explained the situation and was told by Ms. Ragan that it's not going to be ready by tonight (2/10/2025). I explained the situation again and that I placed the order last Friday (2/07/2025) so this wouldn't happen. Then she proceeded to tell me they were doing inventory and there were 200 other prescriptions ahead of mine and that they're not filling any prescriptions at the moment. So then I asked what I needed to do to get the prescription filled? She then said I'm just going to have to wait until tomorrow (2/11/2025). I explained that was not satisfactory and that this was the entire reason I sent the request in three days ago, so I would not run out. It was obvious she couldn't care less. She just kept interrupting me every time I tried to talk so she wouldn't have to listen. I told her I didn't care that they were doing inventory and that has nothing to do with me or the other '200 prescriptions' waiting to be filled. I could understand if I waited until the day of or day before to request the refill, but this was the SOLE reason for doing it last Friday morning! Furthermore, if I tried to place the refill any sooner than that, it would have come back that it was too soon to request the refill.
I've had to deal with this on and off every couple of months and it's getting ridiculous. Everyone points the finger at everyone else. The drugstore blames the doctor; the doctor blames the drugstore. Why is this so complicated? This was NOT the situation today as the complaint I had is that the pharmacist can't refill a medication that she's had four days to fill! I asked to speak to a manager and Ms. Ragan proudly asserted that she was the manager. I then told her I was going to stop in there on the way home to get this issue fixed, and she said that she was not going to talk to me.
I was extremely frustrated and said that this is an ongoing issue. Ms. Ragan snickered and said, 'Well if you're not happy, I don't know why you would want to continue to try and get your medications filled here.' So now we have a 'Pharmacist' who I guess is a part-time comedian as well that couldn't care less about the entire situation. She has 'inventory' to take care of and is not filling the prescription, period! She doesn't care it's been 3+ days, that this is an ongoing issue and zero explanations as to why it hasn't been filled within this window. I still have no answers as to why in four days, ALL of these prescriptions were not filled. It seems it's just a big joke to her since she's snickering and offering wise cracks. So it became obvious that she was going to do everything in her power to be hard to get along with.
So as of today (2/11/2025), I called the Walgreen's Pharmacy located at 10 Pitts School Rd NW, Concord, NC 28027, to verify all my medications were ready. They proceeded to tell me they have four prescriptions ready and they were the same four that were ready yesterday from the Cabarrus Ave Walgreen's. The one prescription I needed yesterday they had no record of. So I called Ms. Ragan back at the Cabarrus Ave store. She answers and proceeds to tell me that they were transferred as of my request last night. I told her she knew the only reason I wanted the one medication transferred was so the medication I needed yesterday could be filled yesterday evening (since I was out).
So then she proceeds to tell me she'll refill the one main one I requested yesterday (and last Friday). I asked if the others would be ready at the Cabarrus Ave Walgreen's and she replied 'Yes'. I go this evening to the Walgreen's on Cabarrus Ave at 6 pm to pick up the medications and the employee at the window said there's only one prescription ready. Another employee comes to the window and then tells me I'll need to go to the other Walgreen's to pick up the other four medications. And the other two? Guess they're both invisible or just lost forever? So now it's become obvious, Ms. Ragan is just purposely making it more of an inconvenience for me to try and annoy me.
Oh, and as a little goodbye, she has another employee tell me they are no longer going to refill my prescriptions there. Which, that is fine, after yesterday, I was planning on sending my prescriptions to a completely different pharmacist. But, I think Ms. Ragan wants to make it as difficult as possible for me. And unfortunately, it's sad that she is bending over backwards just to make me jump through all these hoops to feed her comedic act. So that being said, in the age of online platforms and social media, I plan to share this experience with everyone possible on every platform possible, so they potentially don't have to deal with this sorry excuse of a 'Pharmacist'!
At this point, there is nothing to be provided. So for me, it's about making sure everyone knows whom they're putting their potential medical needs in the hands of.
I have been going to this pharmacy over 10+ years and know most of the staff really well. They know me on a first-name basis and always speak with me, ask me how I'm doing, etc. while I'm there getting my prescriptions. I've never had ANY problem with ANY staff there prior to all of this. But now after having dealt with this SORRY excuse of a Pharmacist, its beyond enraged me to the point where it's being addressed everywhere it can be noted. I hope she was successful with her inventory and that the other 200 prescriptions ahead of mine weren't a high priority. Julie, good luck with your upcoming comedy tour!

- Dealing with a smart-ass phamacist who doesnt give a damn about you

By far the worst customer service and they just lost a customer forever. My husband has a bone disease and is on pain pills for over 20 years.
He does not abuse the use and is on disability. This pharmacy held up his prescription for 3 days which caused withdrawal for my husband. I called today to get a status and the pharmacist actually laughed at me... we will not be back and my suggestion to all their customers is to find another pharmacy that actually care about their patients.
Walgreens is disgusting in how they treat people.

Traveling in MI and worst experience ever. Had to wait 20-25 minutes in the drive thru behind 1 car and even after calling to verify my prescription was ready and the doctor called it in 3 days prior still did not have it ready. Had Publix call to get them to fill it.

What a waste of my time. Waited 30 minutes in pharmacy line to check in for a booster appointment. Then they had to re-enter all the info I did online and had to fill out the forms I completed online.
Waited an additional 30 minutes sitting in front of the pharmacy for my booster. So much for having an appointment.

Every time I go to the drive thru to pick up a prescription, there is only one car in front of me, but its ALWAYS at least a 20-25 minute wait. I dont understand why, if they know something is going to take more than 5 minutes, they dont just tell those people to come inside. Its getting ridiculous to just wait and wait and wait.

Used the online photo service for a local pickup at this location while on a business trip. Within the hour I had the merchandise and was able to use a coupon to help reduce the cost even further. Thank you for helping make our gift for a coworker.
Would visit and use again if back in the area.

This letter is to both the Heart Hospital of OKC and Walgreens Pharmacy. I appreciate the medical help and it was vital in my recovery but I would like to make a couple of suggestions that could have made the experience far less painful for both myself, Lawrence Wilcox and my wife Margaret (Maggie) Wilcox.
I have gout which makes me prone to kidney stones.
I have had several but none have been as severe as I had Saturday, August 10th, 2024. The pain was so severe I did not realize it was a kidney stone. Just past 3:00pm I asked Maggie to take me to the emergency room. We live close to SE149th and Sooner Road and felt the quickest ER trip was north on Sooner to the Heart Hospital.
MY wife left me off at the main entrance and waited in the car. I asked the receptionist where the Emergency Room was and she said, “We don’t have one.”
I went back to our car and as we were leaving the campus we saw the Emergency Room direction sign pointing to the south side of the campus. Maggie let me off at the ER door and I checked in while she parked. Check in was very quick and pleasant and I was placed in a room and seen by the staff very quickly.
In the room, I went through my medical problem and history rather quickly. The PA seemed to know it was a kidney stone and I was given a dose of morphine and ondansetron at 4:20pm. I was taken to get an MRI which was quick and returned to the ER room. The MRI was conclusive that it was a kidney stone and in the right-side ureter.
I was still in a lot of pain and requested a second pain killer. I was given Hydromorphine and Katorolac at 4:53pm. The pain was much subdued and I felt much better. With the urine sample and the MRI the diagnose of a kidney stone was confirmed and the treatment was to take prescriptions for Tramadol and Flomax and allow the stone to pass.
I was released but the time was just around six-o-clock and the Walgreen’s pharmacy we used in Moore was closed.
The staff said they would call in the Flomax and give a written prescription for the Tramadol so it could be taken to a 24-hour pharmacy.
They suggested Maggie could go to the 24-hour Walgreens on 615 W Main in Norman. I asked if they could just give me a couple to take with us for overnight. The staff said no, that I had had two morphine shots and they could not give me any more pain killers. I didn’t understand why the staff could give me a prescription for 28 pills to go get filled immediately but not give me a couple for overnight.
Still not understanding we left so Maggie could fill the pain prescription immediately and get the Flomax. Why did they not just write both out so we could fill them both at the same time and place? Maggie thought they had called in the Flomax prescription to the Walgreen’s in Norman since Maggie had to go there for the pain medication. Maggie took me home first and went straight to Walgreens at 615 W.
Main Street in Norman getting there just before 7:00 pm Saturday night. She stood in line for half an hour and at the counter she was told she could not fill the order because her driver’s license number didn’t match what was in their computer. She had the actual license in her had but that didn’t matter it was a different number from their computer. The pharmacist said she would need to see my driver’s license because they couldn’t fill a controlled substance prescription without my driver’s license.
Maggie had my insurance cards but did not have my license at Walgreens. The pharmacist said she could accept a texted image of my license sent over the phone.
Maggie called me and I texted her a picture of my license to show the pharmacist. She had to get back into a long line again. While standing in line, the pharm tech came to talk to her.
She said the license image was acceptable but said she couldn’t fill a controlled substance prescription because a mid-level medical worker had signed for it pointing to the name on top of the prescription pad. The tech said the prescription required a physician’s signature. Maggie took the prescription back to the Heart Hospital of OKC on South I-240 and Sooner Road driving back over 13 miles as it was starting to get dark.
Maggie told the receptionist at the emergency room what had happened and asked for a physician’s signature. She said she would take it back to the exam area and get a prescription with the physician’s signature that the Walgreens would accept.
The receptionist would not allow Maggie to enter the ER and took the prescription herself back to see the doctor. She returned after about 15 minutes. She returned and assured Maggie that it was a doctor’s signature and not a PA as Walgreens had said. She was adamant that it was a doctor and PAC was the prescribing physician.
Maggie returned to Walgreens to stand in line a half an hour again to get up to the pharm tech and Maggie told her the hospital said it was a physician who signed off on the medication.
The pharmacist disputed Heart Hospital of OKC’s claim that it was a doctor. Maggie told them she had been assured the signature was a doctor’s. Maggie asked if they she could call the hospital and let them talk to a doctor. The tech told me I could try.
But the pharmacist seemed annoyed that she was still trying to fill the prescription and would not leave.
Maggie, who again had to get out of line during a very busy night, called Heart Hospital of OKC and explained that Walgreens had still refused to accept the prescription because of the signature. She was put through to a nurse The nurse told her the signature at the bottom of the prescription pad WAS a PAC and NOT a physician as she had been told. The nurse told me to have the pharmacist call them and they would get a doctor to help. So Magge got back in line (another wait) and when she got to the tech she gave her the hospital’s number to call and she sat down to wait.
The pharmacist was quite annoyed but didn’t refuse. Maggie waited until about 11:30 pm and got back in line to get the status. When she was at the counter the tech said, “Oh … it is ready.” So, Maggie had sat there and Walgreens had not called her name to say it was ready. Four and a half hours and two round trips were required to fill a prescription.
In exasperation she walked to her car and found she didn’t have her keys.
As she returned, a man in the parking lot recognized her and asked if she misplaced her keys and she replied yes. He said he had turned them in at the counter. She by passed the line and walked to counter to see if her keys were there. The tech asked the pharmacist about the keys.
Rather than reply, he picked them up and threw them in disgust. He gave the impression that Maggie had been far too much trouble.
As far as the Tramadol, I took one at midnight after Maggie was finally able to get them, and three during Sunday and one around two in the morning on Monday. After that I did not require any and did not take any more. Of the prescription for 28, I have twenty-three left, so I took five.
I am quite willing to return them to Walgreens. Hardly the drug seekers we were treated as being.
Maggie and I feel we did nothing wrong and expect nothing from either Walgreens or the Heart Hospital of OKC, but we took time to write to hopefully make you aware that there are opportunities to improve patient care. Filling a prescription should not be four and a half hours of exasperation. I would have had to go back to the emergency room that night if my wife had not been able to get that pain medication finally.
I was really suffering. It was unprofessional of all involved and the pharmacist should have called the hospital himself when he saw the pad lacked a physician’s signature instead of sending my wife all the way back to the hospital.
And to top it all off the hospital called in the Flomax prescription to the Walgreen’s on 19th Street and Santa Fe in Moore instead of sending it to the one in Norman. We could not get it until the next day!!
User's recommendation: Do not accept Pharmacist rant that it is the customer fault that clinics and hospitals use PAs and it is the patients responsibility to get a doctor.

So I just purchased a $500 Apple gift card there last night and was talking about a fraudulent one I purchased at Circle K down the road a few months back with the clerk. Strangely enough the useless woman had training on this and pointed out what could be the problem (resealed strip which is harder to remove upon scanning), noticed it with the one she picked out for me and still went ahead with the purchase anyways.
As it turns out when I went in tonight to try to redeem one that wasn't already used by some scammer, the supervisor told me that she instructed her not to sell it to me yet she still did anyways. These people are immensely incompetent slaves who work for these scandalous corporations that do absolutely nothing to resurrect themselves on fault. Despite the imbecile selling the gift card against the manager's approval and therefore wasting $500 of my money (which it seems intentional, don't you think?) the inept manager did absolutely nothing about it for her insubordinate's willful disregard. These people have zero integrity nor to these companies.
Don't buy one from them or any store for that matter because you might get screwed over as I have the second time. So much for the training ***

Refilling Controlled Substance
I have been filling a prescription for a controlled substance through a Walgreens pharmacy for six months now. Each month the prescription has been filled 3-7 days early with no problem whatsoever.
Prior to this, the prescription had been filled at a CVS pharmacy for years. I changed pharmacies only because I moved. I have had the same doctor prescribing this for about five years now. I have never had a problem filling this prescription before this month.
I called Walgreens to have my prescription filled five days early. My insurance company already cleared that it would be covered. The pharmacy tech put it through and said it would be ready in about an hour. Two hours later I called the pharmacy as I still had not received a text message saying that it was ready.
I was then informed by the pharmacy tech that it could not be filled yet because it was five days too soon. I was told in order to have it filled sooner, my doctor's office would need to call and release the prescription early. I had my doctor's office call Walgreens to do so. Walgreens then sends my refill history and asks them if they were aware that I have been filling early.
My doctors office still wanted the prescription released and suggested that I have it filled weekly instead of monthly then. The pharmacist states that this would be inconvenient to me WITHOUT CONSULTING ME. It is four days early and I have yet to have my prescription filled. Today I called the Walgreens pharmacy to ask that the prescription be filled tomorrow on the 30th day.
I explained my confusion and frustration regarding that inconsistency and she hung up on me. I was not expletive or yelling. After this I finally called the corporate Walgreens office and filed a formal complaint. My complaint was documented and I was assured someone will call me back within two business days.
Why is this a problem? Because this "controlled substance" is a medication I cannot just be off of for 5 days and not have consequences. This controlled substance comes with a dependence on the medication which does not make me a criminal of a druggie. This is a prescription from a reputable doctor that I need.
I don't feel that Walgreens should have exhibited this type of control over medication out of the blue. If it was fine for the past six months to fill early, why isn't it now? I should have been told that filling early was an "exception" they were making.
Because of their inconsistency I have been hospitalized for withdrawal side effects and have missed work. This is unacceptable.

Someone called me from Walgreens located at 2690 Golf Rd, Glenview IL, around 4pm on 1/18/25 and told me it was time to refill my symbicort inhaler and asked if I wanted to refill it. I said yes and asked to have another medicine refilled as well.
I was then told I did not have a refill available on either medication. I explained that I did have 11 refills remained on my inhaler and 1 remaining on the other medication. I told her when both medications were sent to Walgreens and informed her if the day they both were last refilled. I was told to hold on.
As I was on hold I logged into walgreens.com simultaneously. The pharmacist then came to the phone I explained the same thing I told the other person then I spelled the name of the inhaler medication. The pharmacist became upset and was so rude, she was talking unprofessional and disregarded the fact that I thought my new inhaler with the 11 refills was symbicort but a generic brand. I was under the impression that the inhaler in last received was symbicort because my Dr said it was, he said it was a stronger version of the inhaler I previously had.
So I do not know why that made the pharmacist upset but I informed her that I did not work there so I wouldn't know it was a different medication, the pharmacist tech that called said she was calling about my symbicort. The pharmacist yelled and proceeded to hang up on me. I called back and asked for a supervisor/ head pharmacist and the same person came to the phone. She yelled was rude, very unprofessional (and she was on speaker phone) then hung up.
My adult children wanted to go up there in person and speak to her manager, that's how nasty she was. She refused to give me her name when asked but there is no way this lady should be a pharmacist.
I made a formal complaint, hopefully Walgreens pulls the phone calls and review them. I'd like the pharmacist to be reprimanded for her actions.

Walgreens, 1621 S Division, Guthrie, OK 73044. I have 2 prescriptions to pickup.
Yesterday I called them to verify the hours and was told Monday thru Friday 10-9 closed for lunch 1:30-2:00 and Saturday and Sunday 10-6. So today (Saturday) I made the 25 mile trip to get my much needed medication and they were closed with a sign stuck up that showed the hours were Monday - Friday 10-9 Saturday and Sunday Closed. I called their phone number to check the hours and they had changed the recording that was playing yesterday.
This is not acceptable that today is Saturday and I have to wait until Monday to get my refills. This is not the first time this has happened and they do not care.

I most definitely want to give this place Absolutely no stars. I have already written a review last year but i'm doing another one I just got out of Hospital, I cannot get any of my prescriptions. They are giving me a hard time They are for pain and for and Anti.
Biotics, something you need. After a surgery a major surgery.
They hung up on me twice and they have the worst attitude. The indian lady that works there on ballenger highway in flint michigan was so rude to me and my mom. We have been going to this pharmacy for a few years. Because it is close to the house.
I will make sure that I will put in a review for this place on every platform so that everyone does to come here. When you come to pick up your prescription, you have to literally sit. In line for 45, it does not matter if you go inside and it does not matter if you sit outside. You still will be sitting there for a while wasting your gas and your time.
I will make.
Sure.
I expose this establishment and possibly a few of the employees that were very rude to me.I am sitting here in pain and I do not have any of my medication. I absolutely hate this place. The only reason why I go here. It's because It is close to my house but I will definitely be changing over To a different establishment. You guys are absolutely disgusting and lazy and unprofessional.

Verified Reviewer |Walgreens sells expired cards.
I bought to cards from Walgreens in St. Thomas, the cards were bad i went to see if the cards can be replaced or a refunded they said they are third party and they couldn't assist or help.
Not the cards have a total of 260$ that I can't be refunded to me. What I do to get my monies back.
User's recommendation: Don't anty buy cards from walgreens.
Fake sale prices
Regular prices are jacked up double and then discounted by fake-sale price of 30%. Very poor biz strategy.
Is Walgreens going out of business? Do they think customers don't notice? Why is there now less product in the packages they sell based on the net weight? Pay more for less?
Are you joking?! Dumb company.

Verified ReviewerCustomer service
By far, the worst customer service and they just lost a customer forever. My husband has a bone disease and has been on pain pills for over 20 years.
He does not abuse their use and is on disability. This pharmacy held up his prescription for 3 days, which caused withdrawal for my husband. I called today to get a status, and the pharmacist actually laughed at me.
We will not be back, and my suggestion to all their customers is to find another pharmacy that actually cares about their patients. Walgreens's treatment of people is disgusting.
- Horrendous customer service

What was the reason for the hold up in filling the prescription?
The excuse kept changing from it's too early to refill, 2 days after refill date, the doctor didn't send it yet even though we received a text from walgreens that it was being processed, to your insurance is holding it up, and they were not when we checked. And finally, we are short staffed... They tried every excuse....
