Here in Florida at the Walgreens stores they started 10/ 17/2018 scanning driver's license when you're purchasing cigarettes. Something is telling me that the Walgreen stores are selling our personal data and information to the Pharmaceuticals, to insurance companies, tobacco companies.

No doubt that pretty soon we will start receiving coupons for discounts from the tobacco companies to buy more cigarettes, letters from the insurance company stating that we are smokers and that our policy is going to go higher, advertisements from all the pharmaceutical companies selling us patches and drugs to quit smoking etc etc etc. I feel like this is totally illegal and invasion of privacy.

Reason of review: Poor customer service.

Location: Miami, Florida

Walgreens is scanning licenses to ensure that they are selling to people of age. Too many clerks were not verifying ID, and violating the law.

Walgreens had to pay a substantial fine. The scanning simply verifies the DOB. No info is stored. Believe it or not.

Walgreens, just like the hospitals, government , and insurance agencies etc. ALL Ready have all your info. Have a DL, a rewards card, Been to the doctor, have any type of Insurance? There goes all your info.

So no conspiracy at Walgreens, just clerks following rules, and corporate offices ensuring the laws are up held.

P.S. your not that important

They scan it cause that way they can sell all of your information to the aliens planning on taking over earth. That way they can impersonate you after they take over your bodies once they get your address information on your ID.

Walgreens has a deal with the aliens where with each ID scanned the aliens give them a profit. It’s a win win on both ends. Better put your tin foil hat on for protection now that they’ve already scanned it.

Warn your friends to! Dun dun dunnnnnn.

They scanned my license for the first time when buying wine. I also have he same question regarding what they are doing with my information. I am known customer in this store and am over 21, way over at 74.

they should only look at licence .scanning is no good.

They have to scan everyone's identification to make sure that they are old enough, in case one of the elderly people in the store buying cigarettes is actually someone with a medical condition that makes them appear to be very old, when they are actually only 17. They could be fined and lose their job if they sold to such a person without carding them first.
